Should the positive wire be hot?

I didn't think it was right either to be honest. But I'm not the greatest with electrics. Wiring diagram states the original cable is 10mm². Anybody have an idea what amp cable is suitable?

Should the positive wire be hot?

Hahaha. Cheers chaps. Should have made it more clear, it's not acrually the battery terminal connection. It's about an inch away from it. On this the actual battery clamp bolt is part of the cable. I spose I could cut back some of the conduit though, clean it up and heat shrink over it when clean.

Should the positive wire be hot?

Hi all I have a TD5 90, from the battery positive to the main fusebox under the driver seat runs a positive cable. This is getting hot at the battery end, virtually too hot to touch. But only for a short amount of time when the ignition is turned, so guessing when the fuel pump is running, glow...

Pulling to either side under braking!

Hi guys My TD5 90 seems to be pulling to either side under braking. It was diving quite bad to the left yesterday. But today when double checking it I'm noticing it will also dive to the right. It shocked me a bit how severe to the left! I was braking a bit firm (spirited) but not ridiculous...

TD5 changing oil level (not specifically rising)

Thanks for the reply. I never thought of it like that, good point. Absolutely no chuffing of out the filler cap or dipstick tube when running. Also Ive replaced the depression control valve in the last couple of thousand miles.

TD5 changing oil level (not specifically rising)

Yes mate 100%. Same procedure everyone too. Had this before but thought it was perhaps the ground where I checked it. But now it parks in the same place which is tarmac drive.

TD5 changing oil level (not specifically rising)

Hi guys My 10p TD5 is parked in the same spot every day. Always checked when stone cold the day after driving it. I've thought recently that the head has got to come off, due to the engine oil level being 10mm above the max on the dipstick and thinking it's cracked with diesel getting into...

    TD5 Smoking!

Thanks alot guys. I've just double checked the oil level. And it seems to be rising! I think I might have a cracked cylinder head as I've done the o rings and copper washers more than once in the last couple of years. Could this be the reason for the grey smoke? I know it's not going to help...

    TD5 Smoking!

MAF is dead, although I'm told it doesn't matter on the 10p engine as it only controls the EGR. I do wonder if there is slightly more to it than that though. Also considering a CAT again too. Thanks for reply

    TD5 Smoking!

Thanks for the reply. I accidentally cut through the temp sensor wiring, but re soldered it and heat shrunk it. Wouldn't affect it would it? I will look into a replacement sensor too. Thanks

    TD5 Smoking!

Hi guys My 2000 TD5 (96k miles) seems to be running very rich. When it's ticking over it absolutely stinks of diesel fumes even after a long journey of over 100 miles. When driving Infront of someone in the dark with their headlights on it's quite embarassing with quite alot of grey smoke. When...
