    Steering Box

Good evening all. So I finished rebuilding my steering box this weekend and doing so has raised two points.... Am I right in thinking that there is nothing stopping oil pi55ing out of the unit past the upper bearing (admittedly it should never be able to do this because gravity will always be...

Series 3 steering box oil specification

Hello Rob, that's ace. Any idea how much I should put in the steering box? Cheers

Series 3 steering box oil specification

Good afternoon all, I've scoured the threads on LZ but I can't find anything about the type and amount of oil you need to put in a series 3 steering box after you've rebuilt it. Also, I've greased the bearings with a standard Castrol bearing grease but I was a bit concerned this might react...

    Driving Member Filler Plugs

Ahh I see, I found those but because there was no "add to basket" button I thought they must be out of stock. Turns out LR Fasteners haven't yet set up an online shop! They also have the joint washers which is splendid. Cheers. Olly

    Driving Member Filler Plugs

Hello all, I am struggling to source replacement driving member filler plugs and washers for my series 2a. The Landrover part numbers are 276039 and 232038 respectively. If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be most appreciated. Cheers. Olly.

    Painting queries

Good morning all, I'm getting close to being in a position where I can re-paint my series Landy and I've been looking at paints... I think I'm going to go with Pastel Green and I have looked at a couple of suppliers, namely The Paint Man and Paddocks (HMG paints). I'm planning on spraying the...

    Landy Rear Hub Identification

Ahhh hah! That's very interesting. I was potentially mislead by this because there are other components in the assembly drawings for the rear hubs (from the series 2A parts catalogue) that are 6 figure numbers all starting with '217' (please see below) so I just put two and two together and...

    Landy Rear Hub Identification

Hi guys, I had a look at the outboard hub bearing inner race last night - the following was written on it: Timken 11162. I believe this is an imperial bearing, so its looking likely that I have series 2A hubs. I'm still a bit confused as to why I can't find that hub part number in any of the...

    Landy Rear Hub Identification

Hi Phill, thank you so much for your reply. I will check the bearings tonight (they are at home). Olly

    Landy Rear Hub Identification

Hello all, I have scoured both the series 2A and series 3 part catalogues trying to find out what vehicle the hubs on my landy originally belonged to (so that I order the correct bearings, hub flanges and hub flange bolts for their rebuild) but so far I have drawn a blank. Visually looking at...

    Gearbox Identification

Yet another identification post I'm afraid, this time the gearbox. I have found various numbers on the various casings as follows: 25381680 E HDA 3 539788 528237 B VAF LM22W HWV Gr8 Pleas see picture attached to this post to see where I found each of the numbers. I'm thinking of removing the...

How to find VIN without VIN plate!

Stretch you legend my Landy is an E plate. At least something with this vehicle appears to be straight forwards! Thanks so much for the reply. Olly

How to find VIN without VIN plate!

Puddle jumper you're spot on, the chassis number is what I'm after (because the car pre dates VIN numbers). I got a professional HPI check done and the plate matches the chassis number which is a start. Nothing dodgy flagged up with my search and since I posted this I have found an almost...

How to find VIN without VIN plate!

I think I'm making progress here, I just found the chassis number which is 24138723C. This correlates to a series 2a 88" Petrol model, which is roughly what I have. If I check the number plate on the DVLA website it also correlates to a series 2a 88" Petrol.
