L322 STILL NEW TO ME smoking

Perhaps I can extend this thread. Would greatly appreciate help on this matter. I have a L322 td6. It has been sorned and only started a few times since start of covid. Yesterday I started it up and left it to idle for about 20 minutes and all ok. Then drove it for about half a mile and then...

    L322 CV joint oil/grease everywhere - td6

Will try to upload photo and thanks - history is that while driving the air suspension collapsed suddenly onto bump stops and dash said drive no more than 30 mph - then found driver front air spring had burst - wonder when replacing it if mechanic could have damaged something as noticed the...

    L322 CV joint oil/grease everywhere - td6

After having an air spring fitted to the driver front there is now oil/grease all over and down the side of the tyre - a right gooy mess. There is also a mild grating noise. Also the dash display says 28.4 mph. I wonder what is actually wrong and is it safe to drive to the garage 30 miles away...

    Defender/Discovery for Africa expedition

Defender or Landcruiser - well in my experience the Landcruisers had more serious problems while the Defenders had a lot more problems but less serious but both always made it through. Did 12,000 miles in Botswana/Namibia and the Defender had lots of minor issues but none stopped the vehicle -...

Turn key nothing apart from a ticking sound

It was the starter motor - replacement £79 - the L322 has been cheap motoring for nearly 6 years. Apart from a set of tyres, a set of windscreen wiper blades, a set of brake pads and some servicing all ok in 58,000 miles. Well cheap if not counting depreciation which is getting less per year the...

What has happen to the adventurism with Defender owners.

Well on my last trip the 80 series cracked its front axle and support bracket and a few days earlier lost all its ATF fluid and had to be left for a while in a remote location so it was lucky my Defender was there to assist.

    P38A A Long story

I have just done two trips to South Africa including Namibia and Botswana - fairly remote with little tarmac - and lots of animals. Going back there in the Autumn - 30+ in Namibia and 40+ in Botswana.

Turn key nothing apart from a ticking sound

Well no but from what you all say on this thread and my local specialist it is either the starter motor or the ignition switch. Given that it is a 70 mile return drive to the garage and the starter motor is over 10 years old will start with that. If that does not solve the problem then it is the...
