might have been an idea to replace the thermostat and radiator hoses and get the radiator tested at the same time. there could be an airlock in the system too.

has anybody had a fuel regulator give problems. my 3.9 has a very intermittent problem where it drops a couple of cylinders (well it's like a missing problem) and i get a strong smell of fuel in the cab. the problem lasts less than a minute and then will be fine for days so i am struggling to...

sounds like your radiator is blocked up. take it out and flush it with a hose and see if any crap comes out

if all those fail, then try putting a jumper cable from batt pos to starter as sometimes the pos lead from batt to starter becomes resistive under heavy current draw. will measure ok on resistance test but try it. you should have solenoid clicking tho even if it's this.

I don't have any first hand experience with these carbs but have been told they are not as good for off road driving. Apparently holly carbs flood easier when on steep gradients whereas you could have efi on it's side and it will still run ok. Just my 5 cents worth.
