Sport RR Sport pros and cons

We use our 2006 L322 3.0tdi Vogue as a daily driver, but my son is a specialist engineer who keeps on top of all the maintenance and we did and continue to set aside a 'healthy' fix it slush fund. It has to be remembered that these were and are expensive vehicles that enable you to 'waft' around...

    L322 jacking point

We did both of ours, and on our rr, there weren't any fixings just had to do a cut and weld job...very tricky. We used an old welder who has retired now, but it was a massive job and we did all the prep work which was substantial! It was well worth it in the end, but as I said a lot of work...

New History AND New boots and P*****s?

Well we finally have new boots and panties (oh er missus I meant Brembos )all round and it is a good feeling! However while I was busy with all that, my youngest son did a 'total' search on the old girl's chequered past and it was MOST revealing. We had long suspected it had originally been...

L322 Vogue reversing problem. Feels like brakes are on !

Try driving in low ration for a few miles, then drive in sport mode for a while. Hook up a scanner and clear the ubiquitous trans warning for autobox and see what happens, you may need to clear the code a couple of times before seeing any improvement but it is DEFINITELY worth trying.

    Hand brake question

The handbrake is a notoriously 'last notch' contender even with new pads, shoes etc. I never worry as ours worked when it needed to on some of the steep hills and bridges in Normandy last summer. Speaking of brakes it never harms to do a fluid change when the weather gets better, small cost, big...

    New Boots And Brembos

So today the old girl goes in for the final part of her spring make over, an additional pair of wild peak off road tyres. We had them on the back with michelin A/T's on the front, but are now adding a pair of new off peaks for the front. Will put new ones on the rear and put rear ones which have...

Cruise control mind of its own

I have never trusted cruise control since I experienced a 'surge' when travelling up the M1 in my old Jag, scared the bejesus out of me because it did n't respond to braking or adjusting from control unit, turned out to be a faulty relay, but put me off them for life and probably scared the...

    Happy oily Easter!!

Put a new set of Brembo's on the front of the old girl because there was a slight grinding noise coming from the N/S, no wear sensors because they are retrofitted 'big boys', thought they had at least six months meat left on them when we changed them. Drove down the road and realised basic...

    An Honest RR Specialist

Yep, I always loved the tucked away Routiers, they still exist but are much harder to find, but well worth it, a different world to all the fast food bollocks places that are on the motorways, even the A roads. But the routiers are really worth the effort of planning your route around...

    An Honest RR Specialist

I think we are just going to leave it alone, we don't do that many miles and we don't tow. Might go to spain this early spring but will allow PLENTY of time for the journey. No more than 500 KMS a day distance either, preferably much less, I want to enjoy the few remaining real routiers...

    An Honest RR Specialist

I would agree, except I asked for a quote last July and in his response he said around £200 for a straight fluid change but ADDED, what fluid was put in the last time it was changed? which I thought was rather odd at the time, so I think he was actually being genuine when I spoke in person with...

    An Honest RR Specialist

As some of you know I have an old L322 3.0 Td1 with the dreaded GM 5 speed box, I am also very ill, so I don't want to spend massive amounts of money when I most likely be around for too much longer. Anyway I was thinking of changing the transmission fluid, NOT because we are having any issues...

Key fob not functioning after battery change

Cheers Pal, theTB dept is a real cloak and dagger place, they are terrified of an outbreak because they are so ill equipped. As you say, once eradicated has now been brought back to the UK by unscreened immigrants. The treatment is grim, but has to be undertaken to prevent the spread!

    P38A Insurance prices getting silly

Crikey Mikey, mine is £650, garaged in my sisters house out in buckinghamshire because that is where I stay a lot, particularly during my convalesance. I used to insure it from here in London which is a gated compound but they wanted £2,400 this time. I have 15 years NC and no driving...
