Waxoil it. I did my 1990 Defender about 8 years ago. My Defender goes through snow, salt. grit. rivers, desert. forest. Its still good . I did it myself. I bought a couple of gallons and did it on the lawn so as not to stain the driveway.

Don't know if you are already aware, but there are apps for your mobile phone which give you all the parking and campe site areas throughout Europe. The one 's I use are Search for sites and CamperContact. They are only £5 to £6 per year for the paid up versions. I found them to be very useful

I did more damage to my Defender using a high lift jack than anything else. I would dump it and use a bottle jack. Mine feel off the jack several times and pierced the bodywork.

Why put spacers on? Loads of threads on here regarding spacers and how they put extra strain on your wheel bearings.
