To waxoyl or not to waxoyl??

Waxoil it. I did my 1990 Defender about 8 years ago. My Defender goes through snow, salt. grit. rivers, desert. forest. Its still good . I did it myself. I bought a couple of gallons and did it on the lawn so as not to stain the driveway.

CB radio's are they a thing of the past?

The reason I am asking is six years ago I did a trip across Morocco with a group of 5 vehicles. We met up on here. And what a great time we had. I bought a had held CB radio which we used to communicate with each other. The others had built in CB's Since I came back it's been in the back of a...

    Suspension height,

I would say that was the standard height. I had the same thoughts when I first got my Defender.

Solar panel help on amps needed

I have only just read this thread which is now some four months old. I haven't read all of them and don't know how far you have got with your battery and solar panel installations so this info might be passed it. You have several choices when it comes to batteries. Lead Acid, AGM, GEL, and...

P38 to Norway from St Malo, France.

Don't know if you are already aware, but there are apps for your mobile phone which give you all the parking and campe site areas throughout Europe. The one 's I use are Search for sites and CamperContact. They are only £5 to £6 per year for the paid up versions. I found them to be very useful

    Lrc 2690 snorkel

I fitted one to my 200 tdi, Thought it would make it look butch. The MPG dropped by about 5 mpg and it didn't seem to have the same amount of power. After wading through a few rivers I realised all I was doing was wrecking my Defender. Did I need to go through the river? NO. I removed the...

    New radiator,what type?

I replaced my original 1990 rad in my 200 TDi with a Aluminum one. Think I paid about £80 for it. When I took out the original I could see the build quality was no where near the same.If I was doing it again I would get the original recored. I kept the old one in my garage as I can see the new...

    Hi lift jack points

I did more damage to my Defender using a high lift jack than anything else. I would dump it and use a bottle jack. Mine feel off the jack several times and pierced the bodywork.

Why put spacers on? Loads of threads on here regarding spacers and how they put extra strain on your wheel bearings.

Defender 110, 200 tdi Clunk when coming off the gas at speed.

Anyone has any suggestions where I should start looking at first. When driving on the motorway between 55 to 70 mph when I take my foot off the accelerator a clunking/grinding mechanical noise appears. It immediately goes when putting the power back on. All seems normal otherwise. Only seems...

Declaring wheel spacers on an insurance renewal

I think you need to check the following. I'm almost certain that Freestyle Alloys are not rated for a 110 Defender. They were OK on a 90 but not on the 110. Fitting them to a 110 might invalidate your insurance in the event of an accident. That's what I was told when I bought some for my 110...

    Which Radiator should I buy?

Why don't you get the rad recored. I bought a replacement rad for mine a couple of years back. I paid about £85 for a alloy one. Its no where near as good as the one I took out. I have kept the old one as I will get it recored when the new alloy one goes. The old rad lasted about 25 years, the...
