Well, got it fitted and now have run 700 odd miles. Fitted a new MAP sensor and removed the OEM restriction in the air box as advised, thought this was a bit of a guess but I really can't argue with the results of these and the remap. The hills on the run back from North Devon to Southampton are...

Removing the dash (mine's an 03) is not that big of a deal once you decide to do it, maybe an hour. All the components will be of a certain age so if you don't want to do it twice have a good look at all the bits. After 21 years mine is on it's second motor cable assy and second set of wheel...

Thanks all, reckon I'll get it sorted in the new year, I'll report back how it plays out.
Mike.

Thanks Brown, It was the fact that they are no longer making the ECU that is prompting me, plus I put disco final drive ratio in the tranfer box when I did the clutch a few years back so bit more go will be welcome when loaded.

Morning all,
My Defender 15p TD5 now nearly 21 years old and I'm thinking about getting a tuned spare ECU to fit and keeping the original as a spare.
Worth the effort to keep a known good spare? Also this outfit is near me, Rowdon Motors at Three Legged Cross any have any experience...

Probably should have specified that its a TD5. Ball ache with a chain wrench, just enough room under the filter to get the old one out and the new one in.

Can we have a tool of the day thread?
My starter, does the oil filter and fuel filter saved me a load of grief with the worlds hardest to get to oil filter
Cut the bottom of one of these

Did a complete overhaul on my ABS TD5. Rebuilt calipers, SS pistons and all flexies replaced etc. Used easy bleed, did take a while,
and a few litres of fluid. Didn't need to play with the ABS unit at all.
Good luck...

Me too. 110 TD5. Fair bit of work getting it ready mind. But no longer chucking oil all over the place...for now

Bearmach one due for delivery tomorrow, along with all the filters for a service still cheaper than OEM.

Evening all,
Looks like it's time to replace my injector harness again. I put an OEM one on last time, must be 10 odd yers ago. OEM £90 after market about £30
Anyone got experience of the cheaper option?
Thanks,
Mike.

These actually fell apart durung use. Used the bits to measure up and machine some made of metal.

Was deffo the copper injector seals on mine. Loads of white smoke at idle but didn't seem so bad at 'speed'
Otherwise ran normally.
Good luck, keep us posted...
