Now he tells me :D
Ended up pulling it up from above after a brew.
Put seven litres of oil in as per handbook and its showing about an inch and a half overfull on the stick
Ran it for a minute or two and still the same ???
Most common carb needle in the day for a 1275 was a DZ, used by Austin, Riley, Morris etc for their standard 1275 motors with single inch and a half (38) carb BTW.
Well the weather is well iffy here, thunderstorm early this morning, followed by us being in the cloud and now there are intermittent downpours.
W's tum is playing her up so we aren't going up to the do at the "lac", if it clears up we may go up...
Managed to undo the oil filter (F2 TD4) and wiggle it down
Then it tipped and the oil went down my arm and into my armpit, prob get into my brain from there ffs
Left it to drip into the tray while I have a brew and scrub up, gloves were worn so...
...brownie-points have been earned.
Broken wind-sculpture welded back together and working again. :)
Sausage bacon & egg brunch in a short while.
Visiting the old MIL in hosp this PM. :)
Yes, the pump and the rest of the system is designed for CHF, not ATF. ATF could do permanent damage to the pump, and damage seals and hoses.
Mannol 8990 is a good price, and is to the correct specification for the Freelander 2.
Mornin
Happy Fathers day (is it today?)
Some beer and a card appeared in my kitchen while I was out last night anyway 😊
Cloudy bright here, just sold a wood vice, got another and a large proper one left to sell.
GF bringing a bacon roll / bap /...
Morning All. :D
A decent nights kip but then the NDN resumed his DIY building works at 08:56. He is hammer & chiselling out masonry. The noise travels straight through the ground and up our side-wall. :(
Looks like a nice day out there, coffee...
Well I would agree with you entirely. The spiel from the raffling org said it was all "souped up" with a stage 2'd head but when I got in touch with the previous owner directly before me he said it was a standard 1275 Metro lump in a Morris Mini...
Not very often, fortunately, I get "one of those jobs" !
Offered to replace a strut top mount for a mate. Both strut to hub bolts and nuts seized solid, like they had become one piece of metal. My 350 + ft lb impact driver wouldn't touch it. Nut...
I have an excess of soot on all plugs.
I will pull all 4 tomorrow and take a picture (hopefully a decent one) to show y'all.
I have a set of BPE5 plugs I could put in to see if they stay cleaner as they run hotter, but the book does say BPE6's...
I've had more than ten Minis, gave up counting
I've only ever had one that ran with light brown plugs and it burned an exhaust valve out.
If you're anywhere from light grey to black without soot then it'll be fine :)
Been out for a quick blatt around town in the mini. :)
It always makes me smile.
Oil leak sorted it seems. :)
Worried a bit about over-fuelling and bore-washing the engine, but hard to say without an AFR gauge fitted.
Nearly time for afternoon...
Yes indeed, it left no trace. The oil is still clear from the last change so no black trail.
I did put a tell-tale there and it came away clean and dry (still is) but after tightening the cover T-bolt a bit more the seep/leak has clearly stopped.
Looking at the pic the manufacturer hasn't put chf202 on the product where it lists the spec. Sellers of said product say it's for use where chf202 is required. They also use list many more spec's that the manufacturer doesn't. That always makes...
I'm pleased with the motor so far as is the GF, she pinches it at every opportunity, fink it makes her feel a bit more important than being seen in her Honda Jazz :p
This stuff is CHF202
And I'll need around 2 litres to do the job and buying...
@landowner You ain't a filfy tratterer no more since yer sold yer heap and bought the worlds bestest 4x4. Gorra do fings properly now. No topping up yer engine oil wiv old creosote.
Needs to meet the correct spec in my opinion. Have a look in the owners manual for the spec. LR still sell it but only in a box of 12x 1L bottles. So most main dealers won't buy it in unless you buy the box. Mine wouldn't when I wanted some...
