Replaced the clutch master cylinder seems to have done the trick :)
Moved this out of the way made things easier.

2006 TD4
In between the rain I removed the dreaded diesel pump filter assembly - that's it it's not going back! Well not tonight anyway. It's been sent to the corner in a large plastic box to sulk until tomorrow.I could rant on on about who thought it was a good idea to put it blah blah blah...

Looked under the bonnet
Displaying ignorance here .....is this the water temperature sensor here just behind the dipstick?
Apologies its the air temp sensor - anybody have any idea why its covered in oil?

Thanks so perhaps that's my answer too - noise like a tin of old bolts otherwise same symptoms, new VCU, bearings etc six months ago runs fine with prop off Freelander. Did you get them pressed on this time?

J
Changed belts today and oil and filter and saw this :-
Saw similar on the other suspension arms should I be worried or spray with oil or brush with hammerite?
I suppose I wasn't surprised nearly 100k miles and nine years - I guess it's been out in the wet.

OK
I have a strange scraping noise on the front of the Freelander -
2006 Freelander TD4 Mk 1 97,500 miles not much off road
These are the symptoms:-
Doesn't make the noise when both sides of the car jacked up and the wheels spun - front or back.
When driving doesn't make the noise much...

Very nice and shiny - where do you find the time.

J
You have a serious floorpan problem there.

J
Do reply - interested to know how this could happen without you knowing about it from noise clunking or other obvious symptoms.
:wtf::jaw:

Presumably you have tested the compression on all the cylinders?

I think that there are probably a few cookies to give out - for those of you who said VCU splines (joke)- you should trust your first instincts. Now fitted into freelander. This was the only way I could think of to push fit the bearings without loading the actual VCU.
