    Normal temperature for Coolant

When my thermostat was bad on my Td5, it would always go well into the 90s since the coolant wasn't being circulated. New thermostat and waterpump and it sits at 85-87 warmed up, occasionally would hit 90-91 on high-boost extended uphills.

    Nanocom Results / Rough Starting

After I did the starter motor it would then start up immediately, but that revealed a new problem of very rough running after it was started for the first 5-10 seconds. Haven't sorted that out yet and my nanocom isn't showing anything unusual either.

    Nanocom Results / Rough Starting

My Td5 got progressively worse and worse starting cold (warm it was fine) over a period of almost 1.5-2 years. It would puff white smoke after it did start, and eventually it would turn over so much and required a lot of gas pedal to get it to start. I replaced glow plugs, did injector washers...

    Rocker cover bolts

If it's not leaking then I'd say it's fine to leave it. You may try to take that bolt out and see if it's the bolt that is stripped and not the bolt hole... I've seen quite a few Td5's with the wrong bolts put in there b/c they get lost when mechanics are working on them. The torque on those is...

18p Td5 weirdness: very low mileage and "missing" diagnostic port

Well, bankz5152, you were correct. It was a TAS (thick as sh!t) move by the previous owner. I ran jumper wires to the bare diagnostic wires, plugged it into the nanocom and everything was correct. VIN matched the car's vin, etc. I guess this guy thought by cutting out the diagnostic port that no...

18p Td5 weirdness: very low mileage and "missing" diagnostic port

Thanks, that's helpful. Nanocom documentation states you can read the mileage off the Valeo BCU on a D2. Never messed with a D2 so I wouldn't know though.

18p Td5 weirdness: very low mileage and "missing" diagnostic port

I know, I had never heard of an 18p either. This 110 was actually built at the factory in SA, and it appears to say "18P" on the engine block, and a quick google search shows other 18p Td5's in the SA area. But it looks identical to my 15p. I can't read the mileage on my 15p Defender w/ the...

18p Td5 weirdness: very low mileage and "missing" diagnostic port

A friend brought his South African built 2002 110 CSW with an 18p Td5 to me to scan with my Nanocom (didn't even know there was an 18p!). If anyone happens to know what the 18p differences are, I'm all ears. It looks the same as my 15p in all respects though (FPR routing, etc.). This 110 is...

Td5 Sluggish - Lack of Power - Nanocom readings

Thanks Sierrafery, that info is helpful to even those of us whose Td5's are running well. I'd first though stick an SD card in your Nanocom and record data during a run when the problems are happening and graph it out. It could be that a sensor is going bad and the ECU is compensating for it...

    Rotor? TD5

It's on the right side of your td5, towards the front, between the exhaust manifold and the turbo. It's inside a domed cover that has two bolts. You remove those two bolts that hold the cover on and you'll see the rotor filter sitting inside there. There's a bunch of good step by step filter...

TD5 Fan Belt Snapped On M6

My Td5 was running hot due to a bad thermostat (just beyond halfway on the gauge), and that extra pressure definitely made it prone to leaks in various places. The temp gauge is run off of the ECU and doesn't show what would be considered a true "analog" temp -- so I'm not sure what temp it...

Tips on getting the bloody second bead off?

Not to point out the obvious, but I definitely would not try this with tubeless alloys, those just aren't meant to be removed by hand and also have to have the bead seated after. Except when it's an emergency... I've seen people use a ratchet strap around the diameter of the tire once it's on to...

Tips on getting the bloody second bead off?

Well, to respond to my own thread... this video proved to be the solution. Rubber hammer it out. Mine wasn't at all as easy, but it did come. Glad I learned this in my driveway rather than in the bush somewhere. Now just four more to do! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NytMCzPDMDw

Tips on getting the bloody second bead off?

Thanks guys. I did take the first bead off towards the outside (the side you see when it's mounted). But I've realized that now I'm trying to get the second bead off of that same side, and that's the side that has the deeper/taller ridge inside the rim -- so the second bead appears that it...

Tips on getting the bloody second bead off?

So I've removed the first bead from the outside (the side you look at when mounted) of my 7.50R16 steel wheel, and the tube is out. But %&*!@%&@ I cannot get the second bead off. The rim is loose within the tire but I just can't make any headway. These are just standard Dunlop 7.50R16 tires...
