Very much settled down--cold start still running rough and blue smoking--evens out but smokes thru warm up - unburnnt fuel -- It is an L series -- then completely fine when warm and starting on the button.
I am thinking informatiom to the ECM is simply being followed and causing an overfuel...

on sudden starting issue with blue smoke and strong unburnt diesel smells -- was suffering also with lack of power.
Replaced glow plugs which improved the start itself but still rough initially with smoke and smell of unburnt fuel.
No history or current mechanical...

Could some one advise on the fuel pump set up? Do I have a lift(sender unit) and main pump. Can anyone say where I can find the main pump -I can hear a pump running with the ignition on but can't locate it. Can anyone tell me what their impedence is or if there is any spec? Many thanks

1999 2.0 ltr no history of problems, oil and filter changed 200+ miles
ago moved to semi synthetic from mineral.
Normal trip driving changing up the box --as the next gear was taken up noticed there was a difference in power, definate lacking. Carried on with trepidation to find...
