Bearing gone in the gearbox. Reconditioned gearbox being fitted now. Another £800. So far, the Landy has cost several thousand in repair bills in under a years worth of use. Astonishing.

It may be, but I did have the handbrake repaired only last month, and the noise existed beforehand.
It was the flywheel that went on my old 205.
-
Thanks James. Will try that tomorrow.

My foot is completely off the clutch pedal at this point. The noise starts at high revs, then as the vehicle naturally slows down in gear (say if you're on a flat and not pressing the accelerator) the noise continues. There's definitely something spinning and grinding directly beneath the gear...
-
The clutch is fully depressed. Actually, you don't need to change gear at all to hear the noise, you just need to rev high whilst in gear then take your foot off the accelerator. Does that help?
-
No. It's once you have changed down into any gear, or have just taken the foot off the accelerator in high revs whilst in gear, that the grinding noise occurs. Gear change and clutch bite seem fine though.
-
Just to clarify, the noise occurs on all gears in high revs, and tonight it actually sounded like the spinning disk (or whatever it is) had something break away from it.
-
Symptom:
When I change down (say from 4th to 3rd) and the engine is still revving high, I notice a grinding noise coming from somewhere in the tunnel beneath the gear stick, and it's getting worse. It sounds like a piece of metal spinning and grinding on something. Tonight, I just made it home...

Where abouts was it fastened on the door, or did you attach it to the actual wheel support?
-
The current plan is to attach a metal swing arm to the lower outside of the door. The door swings open, then the vertical bolt at the end of the swingarm (which rolls along a horizontal runner attached to the body beneath the rear window) will gravity drop into locking position. Pics will do a...

Picking up my spare wheel on Monday. Have the parts for the idea (bits of scrap). Will attempt something this week.

What type of paint did you use for the rubber windscreen trim?
-
Sounds great. Would you happen to have an ebay link please?

My 1kg dry powder fire extinguisher has been unmounted and bouncing around like a time bomb in the 110 for over 6 months now, so I'm finally gonna secure the fecker.
Just spend 10 minutes trying to decide where to mount it, float positioning and tilting head like a royal gaylanding artist at a...
