  • Sprayed my chassis, on my D2 TD5 (2002) Used 'Tetra Schutz' for the exposed parts and Waxoil for the inside. Replaced all the discs, pads.
Bought a 2002 Discovery TD5 Serengeti, with 35000mls on the clock. Looks like it came out of a showroom, chassis has surface blemishes only.
Today I removed the front Propshaft from my Discovery 2 TD5, after whining and chirping noises. I had thought of UJ's on drive shafts but replaced those last year. The front UJ on prop, I thought, required replacing as movement found in MOT (advisory-last month). When removed and began the process of pushing failed bearing out, the whole thing fell apart!!!How did it stay together? Searching for new/recovered replacement and noted the ridiculous prices some places are charging (for the same part). Best price (new) that I've seen is Island4x4 at £140.00 +VAT (free delivery). That's for part TVB000100. My Disco ends A296579. So if your prop takes a dive, look to Island4x4, they're pretty good on price.
Also did oil seal on front drivers side axle. Obviously had to strip down the whole brake/disc and drive shaft set up to get to it.
Just changed the tyres too, to new 5 x 265R 70 16 General Grabbers (got em free from a Shogun). Cost me £100 to swap em over though! But can't grumble.
Well, firstly, I want to apologies for being away for a while. I have been suffering from a reoccurring pancreatic problem.
Some may remember me having probs with the "three amigos". Well following most valuable advice from this incredible platform, I solved the ABS problem and reset the electronics (well they reset themselves). Lucky I guess.
Just put five new tyres on my Disco TD5 (2001) which I got off a Shogun that a good friend GAVE me. Just General Grabbers 265 70R 16 All Weather tyres but they will get me back on the road and after months of sitting on my ass, I will back in my TD5. Can't wait.
Thanks to all who have helped me to get back on my feet.
Also replaced the fuel pressure system, as was leaking behind engine. What a job that was, at 57 and having "sausage fingers" I did struggle a bit.
Thanks again, hope to be sound from know on.
    Bye for now.
    Andy
