More of a whistle then lots of smoke, and a hell of a lot of oil sprayed in the engine bay. As you look at the engine it's the left hand hose that has split, near the top.

Took it for a decent run today and all fine with the brakes, but obviously will replace the pins and clips. Driving home on the motorway was a different story. Doing about 65 then loss of power, plumes of black smoke on acceleration and intermittent engine light came on dash. Stopped and popped...

Had a quick search and found a few retaining pin clip kits for about a fiver, they have 4 pins and clips in the kit. so will order some and replace the bolts I've put in. Think I've just answered my question.
