    FL2 steering wheel vibration

Hi all, I'm noticing a vibration in the steering wheel - like it is moving up and down. It happens when the engine is labouring a bit during shifting 1-2-3, but also happens when going over rough road/potholes. It's something new that has developed in the past couple of months. Almost feels like...

    Freelander 2 Clunk

I had a clunk from the front end of my fl2, used to happen after upshifts in 1-2-3 and when decelerating in those gears, also when turning the engine off. Only sometimes, it was very hard to make it happen consistently. It was like that for a year, and then one day the clutch slave cylinder...

    Freelander 2 (LR2) FL2 brake disc question

Just to update, finally got a chance to go for a drive today. Significant difference, much better without the spacers! I had always found the steering wheel a bit harder to turn than it should be, without the spacers it is easier to turn - feels just right now. Steering also feels generally...

    Freelander 2 (LR2) FL2 brake disc question

Just had the wheels off to remove the spacers, all genuine LR thankfully. Unfortunately there was a bit of a hitch - the first thing I had done when I got the car was a balance and alignment check. They were all really far out, so they sorted those. But removal of the spacers caused the brake...

    Freelander 2 door lock

I have this intermittently with my offside rear passenger door, replacing the actuator looks to be a bit fiddly, but ultimately not too hard. Couple of good videos on it: Worth changing the handle to latch cable too while you're in there. Apparently they tend to break, and it's a cheap part...

    Freelander 2 (LR2) FL2 brake disc question

As far as I can tell they are the originals, previous owner had them painted gloss black unfortunately, but you can see the outline of the LR badge in the middle where it's been painted over.. I wanted a FL2 van for my landscaping business, not many options on the used market so I took this...

    Freelander 2 (LR2) FL2 brake disc question

I didn't consider that, much appreciated thank you. I'll take them off tomorrow. Will be interesting to see how she handles with them off

    Freelander 2 (LR2) FL2 brake disc question

Ah, it all makes sense now. Was wondering why it was so clean. Thanks mate

    Freelander 2 (LR2) FL2 brake disc question

Hi all, was going to change the rotors and pads earlier, I was expecting there to be a single torx screw on the rotor, as all the videos and write ups I've seen show this. But this is what I found: Are those 5 nuts holding the rotor on instead? If so, does anyone know their torque values? Or...

Freelander 2 (LR2) FL2 boot opens too fast sometimes

Hi all, recently said goodbye to the old mk1 hippo, and picked up a 2. 9/10 times the boot opens normally, but every now and then it flies open really fast and forcefully. Gave me a good wack on the jaw the other week, really wakes you up in the morning. Another time my hand slipped as I was...

Freelander 1 Trying to locate oil leak - 1.8

Finally got around to tightening the belt today - no more squeal! The neighbours will be pleased :D Thanks Nodge.

Freelander 1 Trying to locate oil leak - 1.8

Thanks mate. There's a couple of big oil spots on the belt not shown in the photo. Regarding checking belt tension - RAVE says to apply 10kg force to drive belt to measure deflection. What's the best way to apply 10kg? I have a luggage hook scale that might work.

Freelander 1 Trying to locate oil leak - 1.8

Hi all, my 1.8k makes a good loud squeal on start up and when driving in the wet. Been poking around trying to figure it out, found oil contamination on the auxiliary belt flat side. Guessing it's slipping on the tensioner and making a racket while it does so. The belt is otherwise in good nick...

    My first car: Freelander I

Thanks buddy. Getting the coolant tank changed this week as it's cracked, and currently looking at a new set of tyres as the previous owner put a mismatched one on the front. Hopefully the VCU didn't take too much strain.

Bouncing in first second and third

That makes sense - last MOT report mentioned exhaust mounting defective Central & exhaust mounting defective rear (both rear mounts). There's zip tyres on the rear one... :D
