Just massive confusion over a Maf sensor
I have just unplugged my maf and the car still drives the same with a spluttering misfire between 2000 and 3000 rpm and smoking quite bad, is my MaF NFG or is this a normal MAF

Hi all, would just a few mm over the max mark on the dipstick cause this sort of problems,
Are they likely to pic up this on the emissions test with tomorrow Mot

Thanks for you reply mike, I will have a little look around tomorrow, something else I've noticed is if I unplug my MAF the car don't change one little bit, is this normal ?
I would expect something, like poor idle or something.

Can anybody help with this issue.
Lanny drives pritty much smoke free and pulls like a tank,
But if held at 2000 rpm smoke so bad.
Oil level never changes from max.
New crankbreather BMW mod fitted,
New intercooler pipes fitted
EGR bypass,

hope it helps, there is lots of threads on here for centre rail sensor,
but lets start on the cheep and simple things before spending when we dont need to.

hope this helps this can be done without removing anything but much easier if you remove the air pipe,
i would recommend removing the plug spraying with contact contact cleaner the squeezing connection,
hope the pics help.

Hi this is how mine was and it ended up being centre fuel rail sensor plug, and maybe the most common of TD4.
I was lucky with mine and just squeezed the plug with long nose pliers to make a better connection
