Im comming to the same conclusion. It would have been nice to have it ignition controlled so I can isolate it when necessary.

Theres a little diagram that says it needs power to the C connection on the Thermal Control and power (via an optional in line fuse) to the 30 connection on the relay, and a connection between to NC on the Thermal control and the 85 on the relay. Doesnt say where to get the power from mind!

So having been to halfords and purchased said cranked spanner I just thought I would make sure I know how it all connects prior to having it off as it were. There seems to be a few spare connectors that could be used as the feed. Theres a nice big white cable behind the radio that is unused...

Cheers slob! Patched it using a bit of plastic pipe for now! The pipe is actually metal and about 2mm in dia so im not sure we were talking about the same pipe?

Cheers slob. To tell the truth looks like its been broken for a while - would it affect fuel the economy cos its been drinking a bit more recently?

Its described as a vacuum control pipe in the haynes book.

Got a broken breather pipe between the vacuum advance unit on the distributor and the carb. Anyone know what affect will this have if I continue to drive cos I cant get a new one till monday?

Being a (petrol) series owner for several years I am now completely broke. I have started a new business and don't want to become white van man, so am interested in trading in for a disel defender. Any advice on fuel economy would be much appreciated.
