Car warms up as normal, fan cuts in, temp gauge drops to zero. Wont stop until ignition cut. Any ideas? Thank you Ez

aaah; so there is no thermo temp sensor other than the engine ECU and the thermo opens because a bimetallic? strip or equivelant is activated if the coolant get too hot in situ? I'm thinking that same fan ECU must control other functions, so unless I have other symptoms, it's working.... I...

Thanks Nodge & Edge... I understand the explanation; would the radiator be *stone* cold too? My mech mate thought the coolant wasn't getting past the thermo.... Ta Ez PS I've not had it long but I can't recall hearing the fan kick in..... and she does get to temp very quick compared...

you say 'clocks'... do you mean the horological kind :D I've a facelift 2002 Freelander (at least I think it is) with the LCD clock set well into the facia under the windsceen... or do you mean the tach/speedo clocks - see, told you I was a newbie? Either way, do the plastic surrounds...

apologies for jumping on this thread. I too have a new key and fob supplied by LR (for £112 I hasten to add). They tried to laptop programme the fob to the 'under dash' receiver but it failed to register. I'm taking it back next week for a service and in the meantime I'd like to establish...

don't think I have a sunroof, just the manual lift glass roof but the car is bone dry (I've hosed it) except for the dampness high up the driver footwell + the car smells of coolant, so leaking matrix but from the opposite side to most posters. Thanks for suggestions, all welcome, Ez
