ok thanks! IIRC I didnt take the crank pulley off to check the timing marks, this potentially means that the cams will be in the correct position but not the crank. So put back together, move the crank to correct position (assuming its not already there), set cams to correct postion, refit...

i think so, just trying to remember after all the work at the weekend? If not then if it is set up according to the manual will this affect the timing as a result of the crank not being in the correct position?

Evening, Just in the process of fitting a new cylinder head to the FL 2001MY following HGF. I've stripped the head from the engine, set the timing marks per the manual. 1. Took the cam sprockets off and the pegs are not lined up in the postions as shown in the manual 8 and 4 o'clock...

Hi all, The ever reliable (?) 1.8 that we have has been absolutely fine, it does have a multi layered head gasket........until today! Lots of bubbling water from the expansion tank, cant see any leaks around the cylinder head, however the temp gauge does not appear to move from the middle...

I have a 96 Disco ES. Is the front screen using a complete one piece seal or is it bonded ? Hopefully you can help so that I can buy the correct parts to stop an ongoing leak into the footwells. Tks :D

Its an ES model, afaik these always had alloys! Bit peeved given that it is unusable at the moment, good idea about the offset!

Its not had new discs and pads in my ownership before, and not sure about the wheels, believed to be all original!!

Its as if the pads are too thick as they determine the position of the caliper on the guide pins in relation to piston on the back of the inboard pad. I've had the vernier gauge, inside/outside calipers, run out gauges all sorts to no avail! I'm not going to take it to a garage tho1
