I tried sound proofing my defender pick up. Found some chequere plate
lino and stuck that to some thin foam. It does dull the sound but i think
i will redo it at somepoint with some much thicker foam

No it's not that. I don't have an immobiliser. When it did it it was a lack of fuel
So it went back to tickover and was struggling to run at that would sometimes cut out
after loosening injector pump and bleeding it through because there is air in the system
it ran fine again for miles and...

If you have access to a ramp or forklift lift it up and
steam clean it right off. Refill all oils and see where it is coming from
If something us low on oil like the transfer box it will
be hot on the outside. So maybe try that. One assumes the
leak is near the front if it is all the way down...

I don't trust mine to get me from A to B and sometimes
I get very frustrated but those times that it's running nice
I trust it to put a smile on my face

Had another look in the fuel tank and foundva large
price of rubber that might be causing the problem

If the handbrake light comes on when you apply it normally
I would think there is a short circuit to the chassis somewhere
if it doesn't come on normally then the plug in the back of the
switch is moving around a bit and not actually plugged in.

Just finished replacing engine. Rather than fixing the one in it
I overhauled a second engine. It turns out the bores are
very worn and there was an inch missing off the top piston ring
on cylinder 1. Still have the problem of an air block in the fuel system
though. Can't understand what it is...

got the engine pressure tested on Monday. turns out i have about 80% leakage on cylinder 1. this i think is the main problem.

took lift pump off last weekend and found it wasn't pumping anything.
assume this is the problem
she is running a lot better now.

cant see that hoses are collapsing. but after being turned off for a few minutes it starts up again with no problems.

My 1994 300TDI defender 90 pickup keeps loosing all power. i think the best way of describing it is that it feels like the accelerator cable has snapped and therefore you cannot rev at all.

some times you need to re-do the valve clearances because if you have put new bits in then it will take a bit of running to seat. so i would check valve clearances again.

try phoning the NFU its the easiest way there is usually someone free to answer.

because I am 17 and I can insure a commercial for 1900 or a car for 4000. and I will be using it for work purposes in a machinery business so I think it should be a commercial
