    Improving original headlight visibility/coverage?

Flat - here's a link: https://shop.landreiziger.nl/lichtversterker-met-keramische-connectoren.html It's a Dutch site/shop - I just translated using 'Google translate'. (Interesting website to wander around) The loom was delivered very quickly via DHL. I think there are others available though...

    Improving original headlight visibility/coverage?

Fair enough Col, my apologies for taking the huff. I totally agree with the principle of what you're saying - it's a kind of 'arms race'. Like you, folk using front fog/spotlights is a pain. On the other hand, my Def was made in 1994, so I guess that probably means it was using 1980's lighting...

    Improving original headlight visibility/coverage?

Was that helpful suggestion intended for me? Why, thank you!

    Improving original headlight visibility/coverage?

Yep. that's more or less what I got. I suspect, if I'd done the loom first, I'd not have bothered too much with spots either. That said, one of the reasons I got spots was for sideways lighting. I used to tow a boat a lot, fairly long distances in the NW Highlands. Big stretches of the NC500...

    Improving original headlight visibility/coverage?

... I didn't... As I said, because I didn't have new bezels and fixings to hand, I decided to leave well alone and just use the new loom with the existing lamps and bulbs. I'll get new bezels and screws sorted and then put in the new lamps/bulbs. When I do that I guess I'll use something like...

    Improving original headlight visibility/coverage?

In case anyone else needs encouraging to do this - I was in a similar position to the OP - pretty feeble headlights. So having checked out various recommendations I went for a Landreiziger loom, and crystal bowl headlights/Osram nightbreaker bulbs. Went to fit the headlights today, but the...

    Problems with LED lights...?

Just to wrap this up - and maybe for the benefit of anyone else doing the same thing: Quite happy with the bolt on bits lights overall - fitted well I needed to fix the earth for the reverse and number plate lights The BoB relay (came with the kit I bought) works fine - indicators flash at a...

    Problems with LED lights...?

Yep, seen those. I think the fix sold by Bolt on Bits is an LED light, which acts as a diode, as well as providing an improved earth point. I'll fit that at some point today and all should be well.

Defender 90 1998 TDi Defender 90 for sale

No argument from me - I was just speaking personally. About 17 years ago, just before the Defender came on the scene, we took a similar decision to sell a Type 2 VW camper. We'd done it up, rebuilt the interior etc etc, but when the kids came along we just weren't using it, so it had to go. We...

Defender 90 1998 TDi Defender 90 for sale

As an additional comment, if you've invested emotional time and energy into something like this, then it has to be hard to let that go. I've been driving mine for about 15 or 16 years now, the kids grew up with it in the background.... it's a part of our family story, so I'd hate to be in a...

    Problems with LED lights...?

hey mate, yes and no... Yes, in that I've been driving around for the last week with fully functioning LED lights and indicators. (still at the stage where I'm checking my reflections and light spill to be sure it is all working, but i'll get over that) No, in that I don't have the dashboard...

Defender 90 1998 TDi Defender 90 for sale

Looks pretty good to me - and a really good list of the extras/maintenance/enhancements. If I was in the market, I'd be keen on this because it reflects the sort of stuff that matters, rather than all cosmetic stuff. Just one suggestion, that it might be worth adding a pic of the cab/interior...

Indicator switch - Britpart or Lucas?

Cheers, I hadn't thought of cleaning it to be honest. Hadn't occurred to me, because "melting" was actually what I'd suspected. That said, I haven't had the plastic shroud on the column wiring for..... 2, maybe 3 years, so it would make sense that some crud would get in there. Sofasurfer - not...

Indicator switch - Britpart or Lucas?

Seems sensible to resurrect an old thread, rather than starting a new one..... I have a 1994 Def 110 S/W 300tdi. The indicator switch is going. The indicators are OK, but moving from main beam to dip I get some scary 'blackouts'. If I was minded (!) I could hold the switch in between the two...

    Chassis replacement Scotland.

Yeah, I'd meant to write more, but I was on an ipad which was taking a hissy fit, and stopped allowing me to use numbers or punctuation just at the end of that last post. It's currently about £5k on a 110, which I think roughly breaks down to £2k for the chassis and £3k for labour and other...
