I set out on this project to see if it would be possible for a human to understand the operation of the high pressure fuel pump .
I identified that the supply to the two regulating valves on the HPFP were both fed from a common supply from the ECU (engine control module)...

Since then I have wired in low watts lights into the valves so can see , When starter activates both Pressure and Volume valves get only 2.6 v and i cannot see this being enough and consequently the cranking does not build rail pressure(gauge display)

Thank you tyregeezer, to get me started I soldered in insulated wire to bridge the breaks. What a bad design all those copper bar conductors and water ingress or condensation - not good. Bonus is my EPB after much work was still showing yellow on the dash and now all clear.

Done a rebuild V6 2,7 diesel-out of body. Suprisingly a few mountains to climb.
1 Hi pressure fuel pump solenoid valves receive + supply but earth returns to ECU seem dysfunctional.
2 Squirt to injectors timing out.
3 Autotrans module not communicating
4 handbrake fault...
