Hi, the gearbox guys are changing the valve body today. They said when the valve body is removed they will be able to see if there are bits of metal swirling around, and rule out if it's actually the gearbox itself. I hope it's just the valve body but with my luck, I'm preparing for the bad...

Thanks for this. The gears sometimes do slip when stopped too. If the fluids havent been changed regularly can a flush and refill be sufficient or in some cases will it need a gearbox rebuild?

Thank you so much for your reply. It's a Freelander 2, bought it 2 weeks ago and realised an hour later that I'd bought a dud. Freelander 2 2012 only 95kms. Only when engine heats up it, after stopping at lights and then accelerating it hesitates and does a big jerk, sometimes slightly slipping...

Been told by different mechanics a few different things. One says full transmission rebuild because torque converter is on it's way out, the other says, rubbish it just needs new valve body and if not he'll be able to see for certain once he removes valve body. Does anyone know of this is right-...

Thanks so much for this. The man I just spoke to said apparently what the other one said is bullocks and it just needs a new valve body and complete flush and drain. This is without even looking at it

My mechanic took it to be diagnosed. He just said the whole thing needs to be stripped and rebuilt £4,500 pound job. Thing is we got scammed by the seller and got a call from the police saying another guy was scammed out of a £3,000 deposit
