Hi All the rear screen demister not working, removed internal panel to find tab on screen broke off. My question has anyone resoldered the tab back onto the screen ? If not how did you fix ?

freelander going in Tuesday ! garage owner /mechanic draining all fluids and checking he then reckons that the back axle might be skipping ? On asking about IRD he reckons with a straight face that the scrappy might have only tried the unit in a straight line and not in...

Hi all spoke to Ken at Bell engineering. A very helpful chap assured me it couldn't be the gearbox ! asked for photos of the VCU which have this minute despatched,agreed it has to be a problem with parts supplied by garage and not to let them touch gearbox etc
Boned up on the cc law and found...

I sent them a e-mail and was told to give ken a ring tomorrow !!! I need to have 4 wheel drive to cross farms for shooting !!

No it drives ok faultless gear changing ! Iwas informed that it would do this until prop connected !!
The problem I have is conflicting opinions !
1 if the gearbox changes ok then its ok !
2 the IRD might only malfunction when the prop connected !!
I am not a mechanic and that's why I seek...

The garage sourced the IRD and had it delivered to there premises !!:doh:

prop not on at moment garage will only remove IRD if I pay them £320.00 then they will send it back to the IRD supplier for there scrutiny and decision on replacement ! The vehicle will have to remain on there premises for up to 4 days minimum 14 days maximum !!!:doh:

Hi IRD changed due to problem with VCU Failing and damaging ird. IRD purchased from breaker with 3 months warranty VCU was from reconditioner with 12 months warranty all tyres correct the propshaft CV joint replaced by mechanics in garage Cant answer about the last question as was not present at...

Hi just had the following done on my Freelander td4 2005 XEI
1 IRD Transfer box
2 recon Viscose coupling
3 new viscose bearings
4 new front connection on prop and gaiter
5 new rubbers on rear diff
6 all new bolts to connect above
with Labour and dreaded V.A.T The cost £1080 only to be told...

whatever cost effective ! not sure about getting one from breakers as been informed these only have a life of 70,000 miles :confused2:

not wishing to disagree with a esteemed senior member but the V5 and all relevant paperwork states its a 1951cc td4 XEI first registered in 2005 !!

Hi All I have a 2005 XEI TD4 fitted with the BMW engine when looking for parts they ask for 2 variants. How do you find which one is which ? Im looking to replace the prop as the VCU went pete tong and took out the IRD @ £748.00 So its in 2 wheel drive

Hi all just noticed a knocking coming from around gearbox end and a loss of oil a greyish colour, sounds like a rumble when driving, gears and clutch work perfectly any ideas?
