Hi All the rear screen demister not working, removed internal panel to find tab on screen broke off. My question has anyone resoldered the tab back onto the screen ? If not how did you fix ?
atb Charlie

Got to be worth a try.... worse that happens is it doesn't work. Actually worst that can happen is the heat from the soldering breaks the window so take care with it!

i got a length of wire wrapped it round the bit remaining on the glass solded it to itsself and then soldered the other end to the wire

this did work but then realised my window was fooked as all the glass part was missing in large section....

still need to replace nowhere local has a decent one :(

Mine is exactly the same :(
Wasn't working so had it to bits and discovered the broken tab. Realised that a lot of the actual demister has been scraped off so no point trying to repair. Still looking for a decent replacement but for now I just open the door and wipe it with a cloth :)

I managed to solder the lug back onto mine but it took a few attempts, give the lug and remaining solder on the screen a light emery to clean them, also there is stuff to repair small breaks it the element on the screen, its applied using a brush similar to a tipex brush. Like mat1295 said it might be easier to solder some wire on instead of the lug, good idea it had never occurred to me to do that.

This is how i did mine. Scratched it up with some emery paper then i laid some fresh solder flux on the pads. Before laying some solder on the pads and then soldered them together.
You need an 60W+(around) solder iron or a gas solder iron to get the tab soldered back on. The window and the copper are just throwing(in lack off a better word) the heat through.

I have done this two times now and its a lot easier with the door taken off and laid on its back.

just be sure to proper clean the broken area before soldering and rearrange the wiring to prevent it from happening again

My tag had snapped so I soldered a crimp spade terminal on.

First took off the insulation from where the wire goes. Then hit it with a big hammer to flatten it. Then I desoldered the remains of the tag from the window and then tinned and soldered the "new" tag into place.

Jobs a good un.. :D
