Damn it. I hate Haynes manuals. Another £18 I don't want to spend. I don't really have the equipement to get the engine out from underneath. I buggered my trolley jack when I changed the IRD and really don't trust it any more.

Hi all I have a problem on our Freelander where it starts and runs fine and revs up to about 2800/3000 RPM but then starts to splutter and loses power...kinda like hitting a rev limiter. Anything up to this range is fine, it drives as normal (well, as normal a freelander can be !!:rolleyes:)...

Thanks for the responses. By dead , I mean there seems to be no power going to it. Normally when you pull the handle, you hear a motor/solenoid and the door opens,window drops and you can swing the door open. At the moment, when the handle in pulled there's nothing. I've tried disconnecting...

It's now been a while since I did this and unbelievably it's still working without any problems despite having been up and down more times than a cheap hookers knickers. So, if you've checked all your earths and relays etc give it a go. :D
