if its the original engine it may be time to swap. they are brilliant upto the point where they go out in great style. mine was doing the same as yours is now it was a 89 td so thought it was time to drop a tdi in. best decision i ever made
-
As above your earthing through your handbrake which wil only end in tears. Check and clean them all ensuring good contact and replace if necessary
-
i once lost my oil filler cap and took my sock off and stuck that in the hole. win win
-
I was always asked to pop it in reverse when getting recovered on a trailr. thankfully that hasn't happened for over a year now
-
i had this toy in fact still have. all battered and scratched now with bits missing though. it came with a 25 pounder gun to tow aswell
-
a family memeber once had this problem on a micra and it was the alternator at fault and it drained the battery after a few hours

I've not heard anything bad about pennine auto. Not dealt with them myself so no news good news?

as above. you have the right to take it back for full refund. he may refute this and make it difficult i doubt he will just go fair one and refund be prepared for a fight go to citizens advice. if you loose all your oil it will seize everything and write it off. its not a dificult job just time...
-
i had same problem i got rid of the engine mounted bracket and is all good now
-
you just pull it off. its only held on with a spring clip. look at your new one to see what i mean
-
i take it your tdi is a disco one. change the oil filter housing keeping your 19j one that way the pipes fit. the power steering pump is different so you can only use one of the pipes off the 19j i think and the other one is only slightly shorther but it does fit it just cuts the corner coming...

Mine went funny after a few months it was the solenoid I just went out and got a new one for about £15
