Hi All,

I've had a T-Max split charge fitted for the past couple months without any issues as far as I was aware!

The second battery doesn't currently run anything as I just havent had the time to get the auxilary wiring done and get all the gadgets in, but they're ready waiting!

However, Yesterday at work I was just messing with the door seals and I noticed the T-Max monitor was powered up showing an alternator output and also that the solenoid was still engaged and batteries linked.

As far as I can remember it didn't used to do this ... and the solenoid would unlink after IGN was off after a short while. It now doesn't do this. I have to unplug the monitor to get the solenoid to kick off ...

I will also add that the ALT reading and the 'Linked' reading still shows with the IGN off and key removed and the vehicle isolated by the means of an earth isolation switch.

My AUX battery -VE is linked to the MAIN battery -VE, then through the Isolation switch. Again, this has been fine and the isolation switch has been fine since before I owned the truck!

I have a few pics which might help but I'm puzzled and the kits only a couple months old, so rather annoying to say the least! Sometimes wish I'd gone the twin ALT route!

That reminds me, I also run a 100 AMP alternator from an EDC Disco!

Sounds like a wiring fault, or possibly a dodgy solenoid to me. Only problem I have ever had with mine is corroded terminals on the battery connections to the solenoid leading to the aux battery not charging.

Oh, and where does the tmax pick up the ign trigger from? Can't remember off top of my head. I know the x-eng kit uses the trigger for the dash lamp on the alternator.

It was based on the instructions, then tweaked slightly to suit. Only difference is how I've wired the earth.

What else is different GINGE?

I'll happily tweak if need be, but the thing that puzzles me is that I'm sure it wasn't like this a week ago!

I just cant ruddy remember.

Either way, both my batteries have held charge no problem!

Though happy to alter wiring if need be! :)

If it turns out that your solinoid is knackered, I've got one that was left when the previous owner stripped out their kit, can't confirm if it works of not as it's the only part of the system left!

You can have it for £5 + postage cost as I have been searching in vain for anyone selling the rest of the system! If it turns out not to work ill refund the £5

Hmm ...

I do hope this doesn't keep doing this?

I guess based on opinions I better go find a solenoid! Do wonder whether I should of just gone the twin alternator route! 2 100Amp alts should see me safe lol!

Though, is there a way I can test this before this happens?

I mean it works by clicking on after I plug the monitor in and clicking off when I unplug etc!

Though used to do it when I turned engine on and off as it should be.

yours is wired differently to mine.

Did you follow the distractions or just freelance it?

Apologies, went and checked, it is the same as mine. :(

Thanks for checking :) ...

Guess that's another point towards the solenoid ... thought strange it works fine when unplugging and plugging back in the monitor ... And the fact it's showing an alternator input even without it running!

Would a duff solenoid do this to?
