    P38 rough idle

Alrighty! Misfires reported for cylinders 2 and 3, the MAF seems faulty (even though I've already cleaned it) and the catalytic converter is not enjoying life at the moment. I expect it could be much wor... oh crap, I've gone and jinxed it now!

    P38 rough idle

Diagnostic read it is then. It's understandable that people don't list their locations. Personally I really don't worry about listing it as anyone trying to nick "No Problem" would have a devil of a time getting it to work ... let alone getting it out of the country ;)

    P38 rough idle

Irishrover: It's a 4.0 petrol and it was imported from the US. I was hoping to avoid visiting a garage that has a scanner but it's starting to look like the only sensible option. Woogoo: The airfilter did have a bit of ash in it but not nearly enough ;) The paintwork isn't as fresh as it was...

    P38 rough idle

Hi everyone! My P38 is acting up again. This time the idle is rough and it stumbles whenever I press the accelerator more than "lightly". I've already cleaned the MAF. I pulled three plugs at random and all were orange. Today this problem got worse as the 'service engine soon" message...

Wait until you read why I didn't get one... my girlfriend utterly refused to entertain the idea of me getting one ;)

If not a Land Rover what would it be?

My mate had a Sj410 on 33" tires and it was amazingly capable... but so fragile that the rear diff broke when he was taking off in traffic. It was one of the coolest cars I have ever seen. As for me I'd have a Suzuki Jimny on bigger rims if I couldn't own anything made by LR.

Ah, thought so. Thanks for confirming it for me :)

    Oil leak

Hello everyone! The unimaginable has happened... my P38 has developeda bit of a problem. As you can see on the attached picture the engine is leaking a bit of oil. The car doesn't run very well for the first couple hundred of yards every morning and I've been adding about a pint of water...

    P38 clock illumination

I gave mine a thump a couple of months ago... and it's lit up every time since.

hehe, maybe 'liked' is a bit strong and 'tolerated' is probably a fairer description.

Well... I did actually like my 1.8 Freelander ;)

A proud owner of Solihull's finest!

My father was a Land Rover enthusiast and his father before him so it seems to be a heriditary condition. A couple of months ago I traded my Citroen C2 Vts in for a dark green P38 SE 4.0 '00, 82k miles. Maybe it wasn't a very sensible choice but it was the only car I could get at the...
