Hi everyone!

My P38 is acting up again. This time the idle is rough and it stumbles whenever I press the accelerator more than "lightly".

I've already cleaned the MAF. I pulled three plugs at random and all were orange.

Today this problem got worse as the 'service engine soon" message started blinking.

Any ideas what could be wrong?

A coworker drives a fully functioning 23 year old Suzuki Samurai. I don't have to tell you guys that it would be totally unacceptable if the Rover was to prove less reliable then the Samurai!

Strange as the Engine Service light function is disabled in the Becm settings for UK vehicles.
What car are you driving? Petrol or Diesel.
If there is someone with dignostics close to you, they can read any faults and also put the engine ecu into Adaptive Learn mode.

Irishrover: It's a 4.0 petrol and it was imported from the US. I was hoping to avoid visiting a garage that has a scanner but it's starting to look like the only sensible option.

Woogoo: The airfilter did have a bit of ash in it but not nearly enough ;) The paintwork isn't as fresh as it was pre-eruption though.

It's no excuse, but I am that used to so many people who wish to keep their location private in case someone sneaks round and nicks their P38....only to find a bank to rob to pay for the petrol, new radiator, blend motors etc. etc etc........

:hysterically_laughi:ballchain:

Diagnostic read it is then.

It's understandable that people don't list their locations. Personally I really don't worry about listing it as anyone trying to nick "No Problem" would have a devil of a time getting it to work ... let alone getting it out of the country ;)

Alrighty!

Misfires reported for cylinders 2 and 3, the MAF seems faulty (even though I've already cleaned it) and the catalytic converter is not enjoying life at the moment.

I expect it could be much wor... oh crap, I've gone and jinxed it now!
