Hi mate. First thing i did was remove the drain plug in the ird box. Not easy. The oil was clean with only minor metal sludge on the drain plug magnet. I shone a torch into the ird box and rotated and looked at the teeth which seemed ok. Apparantly they get badly damaged if viscous is ko. So...

Hi Other symtoms are a bang when putting my foot down on accelarator in any gear including reverse. Changed oil and apart from being a bit dirty no metal chunks. Will take pto cover off and chack, will i need to drain the oil first? Cheers butty

Hi Just changed oil in ird box when i replaced the vc so its ok. Thinking it could be not being flushed out prop. Are there two types of coolant which dont mix???

The coolant level slowly drops in the expansion tank and also brown sludge floats on the surface of the coolant? Temp is normal and engine starts and runs ok. No sludge in filler cap or dipstick? Been like this for three or four months now since I replaced the coolant totally.
