That one would have been built in Sept 58. The first home market ones(141800001) were built around the end of Mar 58 I own the very first one 142800016 and that entered dispatch 3 Mar 58 and second one was 144800012 on Mar 10 . There were roughly 1000 exports built before the home market...

No it has never been in a Museum. People tell me it should be in a museum as it is, in its the original unrestored condition as a reference vehicle as it is the only one from early March 1958. Eventually it will probably end up in a collection or museum but at the moment I will hold on to her...

Here are some pics of the Chassis and Bulkhead. No structural rust at all. I wipe WD40 on the Chassis to preserve. Inside of rear crossmember Original 2 litre motor 112800023 I take her for a drive every couple of weeks to keep the Lubrication up. Cheers Richard

My series 2 142800016 was the first series 2 to test the new production line. It came off the assembly line on March 3 1958 ,3 weeks before series 1 production stopped on March 24 1958. She has all the original running gear and is unrestored and that is how she is staying. Cheers Richard

Looks like an interesting forum I am 63 and have 5 series landrovers. 4 series 1s and 1 series 2. A 1954 built 86inch stationwagon a 1957 LWB 109 a 1957 SWB 88 A 1958 SWB 88 that I am about to restore And the very 1st production series 2 made on March 3 1958. Cheers Richard
