Does anyone have a .pdf of the owner's manual/handbook for a 1997 300tdi they'd be willing to share? I've come from a 1983 110 to all these switches and buttons, plus a central locking system which seems to be possessed by the devil, and I don't have a clue what a lot of it does or how to use...

I'm toying with the idea of fitting an ignition switch without a steering lock, seeing as thieves seem to have no trouble breaking the standard column lock. Would that be problematic?

Some worthless toe-rag tried to nick my 110 on Friday night/Sat morning. For some reason they abandoned the attempt. They forced all three door locks but left the ignition lock undamaged. However, they did start to remove the plastic cowling from behind the steering wheel, presumably to hotwire...

My '83 110 recently developed a noisy exhaust. When I checked it out I found that the downpipe had rusted through just before the flanged joint where it meets the second section. The top joint where it meets the manifold assembly is also flanged, so I thought "Easy, just undo six bolts and whip...

Update: This problem was fixed by the repairers after the vehicle got nicked in January and had to have a new steering column fitted. I still don't know what was causing it but I suspect the sensor switch rather than the brakes themselves. Anyway, they sorted it as part of the insurance job.

Having just had my 110 stolen and recovered, I want to prevent it happening again. Obviously I can fit a physical anti-theft device like a pedal lock or disklok, but is there a simple way to immobilise the engine or render it non-starting? I used to pull out the coil lead on my old Hillman Imp...

Just rang the garage. They haven't examined it properly as the police forensic team need to go over it. However, they said the only obvious damage was to the steering column and ignition assembly. Of course, the numpties might have driven it with the difflock on and buggered it up, or thrashed...

Just heard from the police that they've found him! About a mile from here as the crow flies. It's been recovered to a secure garage. I don't know any more than that. I can sleep soundly now though! :clap2:
