immobiliser?

Having just had my 110 stolen and recovered, I want to prevent it happening again. Obviously I can fit a physical anti-theft device like a pedal lock or disklok, but is there a simple way to immobilise the engine or render it non-starting?

I used to pull out the coil lead on my old Hillman Imp, or remove the distributor rotor arm. Is there something as simple I could do on a 1983 Landy?

If not, could I fit a simple cut-off valve in a fuel line? Something like that?

There are lots of things you could do, but they would require a little bit of ingenuity.

You could fit a hidden switch linked to the fuel solenoid, or a physical tap in the fuel line, there are several options.

Personally I think that large obvious deterrents are better than an immobilizer. A large disk lock and clutch claw can be seen before they break in rather than causing all the damage to then find it cannot be started.

But at the end of they day if they want your vehicle they will take it. I would fit a tracker and as many things as possible that make it look difficult so they move on to something easier rather than trying to take yours.

Agree entirely with this ^ :)

I'm currently having my immobiliser taken out, it is so annoying and I think its causing a lot of electrical problems. If you are having one, get it done properly. Cheapy ones are bad.

I like having a battery breaker that I can take out. It works on my 90 but its obvious and easy to get around. I'll fit a switch somewhere a bit tucked away on my 110. It depends on where you live, crime isn't a massive problem where I am in Cornwall atm, and its never out in an obvious place for it to be stolen. I'm sure things are different in other places though
