Hi sorry its a defender 110 2.4. 2012. Yes the steering was stiff equal stiffness left and right. Power steering damper replaced and no stiffness.

I had heavy steering and just had the Power steering damper replaced, heavy steering now gone. Silly question time. 1.Is power steering damper the same as steering damper. 2. Have any of you had the same problem, heavy steering as was the damper?

It was the NS trailing arm bush that had a lot of play in it. Both bushes replaced have now been replaced and steering back to normal. Thanks for your comments.

I took air out of the tyres and running them on 35psi and still no difference.

Thanks. I've listed those parts mentioned by Tottot and name drop them at the garage. Yes the symptoms were before the service and parts changed. No prior to what I'm experiencing the steering was very solid and I was in full control. Theres definitely something wrong.

My defender is driving me nuts haha! This problem happened before its full service, new shocks replaced, four new tyres, and wheel alignment. All done recently. The steering still feels vague, especially when I get to 60/70mph. The vehicle feels like its wandering left to right. It never...

70mph plus with ease. 2.4 110. I've been to France and Morocco several times, both long dusty road journeys of 11hours or so, driving between 70-80mph. I think you've always got to remember its still a defender.

Can anyone explain these readings to me? Just had my wheel alignment done. The steering is much better, feels like the tyres are on the road. No more pulling to the left, however there still is the odd spot when the steering goes slightly light when on duel carrageways for a couple of seconds...

No mine isn't that light. Its noticeable on motorways. The steering wheel notches to the left and it keeps going straight, but I correct it instantly. Steering is vague, scary! Hopefully Monday they will find the problem.

The lightness only occurs when im driving. When static the steering is ok.

I'd say the steering slightly moves in my grip to the left.
