Great, thanks for the pointers. 3rd to 4th is no problem at all, would that rule out the bias spring lever?

there's a gear in there somewhere

Hi, Another gearbox question I fear. I can't find an answer to this exact problem anywhere, so bear with me. I have a 1996 Defender 90, I believe that's an R380 box. Every change is fine, no problems at all, apart from 5th to 4th. That really doesn't want to go, unless I flick it to 3rd first...

    Screws, Flaps, Rubbers and Wetness

    3. ^^ what he said ^^ I took all the mats and stuff out of mine, it just seemed all they were doing was stopping it drying out.

    Hello from Stamford

Thanks. Mine is in a pretty good state really, maybe just need to keep an eye on the chassis; and the engine uses suspiciously little oil... must be topping itself up with water. I'm more thinking of mods along the line of things to make it more practical for camping trips and the like, nothing...

    Dashboard cable routing

Ergh :( Ah... was thinking the relays would sit on the dash tray, but maybe better in the engine bay... then cables out the side of the bonnet seals and up the pillars. Thinking out loud here :) Getting there I think, thanks!

    Dashboard cable routing

Hi, I've got a 1996 Defender and have been faffing about for a while trying to route some cables to fit spotlights on the roof. This may be an easy one, but.... from the engine side of the bulkhead I can see some blanked up holes, on one side the cables must go behind the instrument console...

    Hello from Stamford

Hi there, I've been pottering around happily in my 1996 90 for a couple for a couple of years now. It feels like a good tiem to take another step, do some proper work on the car, and use it in anger. Will probably need some advice :)
