Proof that the Disco radiator and intercooler can be fitted without chopping your chassis!

To save cutting my brand new galvy chassis, I cut the lower mounts off of the Disco radiator surround and welded two M10 bolts back on instead. That meant the radiator fame sat about 10mm lower and there was no need to cut my chassis. The M10 bolts just sat nicely in the existing chassis mounts...

Long over due update as the Landy is now back on the road and has passed the MOT!

And now finished and road legeal. I've cleaned up the plastics with WD40 and given the paint a good T cut;

Yep, no issues. Just need to make sure all threaded holes have studs/bolts fitted before it's galvanised. Saves having to tap them all out afterwards.

Fully stripped down to the bare axle carcas/casing and had the whole thing galvanised. So the whole thing is galvy'd inside and out.

Seat box repairs - new side panels and an ali battery box.

Overdue an update!
So the rebuild is well underway with galvy axles, galvy cones, and complete set of new bushes and suspension;
I took the opportunity of a disc brake rear axle at the same time which only cost me £50.
Thoroughly recommend axles being galvanised, they've come up...

Not much left of my landy!
Axles are off for shotblasting before I paint them
Also bought myself a new set of seats which should smarten up the interior

New chassis finally arrived after 12 weeks;
And the strip down is well underway...
Also been busy cleaning up and repainting the new wheels (16x7);

The frames on all three doors are pretty rusty, but that's a job for another day (or year!).
As for paint, other than a decent clean I'll be leaving it as it is. Every dent and scratch has a story behind it, and personally I think it's how Landy's are meant to look.

So I thought i'd post some pics of my Landy project so far. It all started when my dad's Land Rover 90 engine died and he decided he didn't have the time or money to fix it.
I'd never owned a Landy before, but seeing as this one's been in the family for a long time, I didn't want to see it...
