Advice with a potential project

Right,

So I may have found a defender 90 to buy. Am going to see it on friday to inspect it.

Basically I am new to Land rovers and I intened to learn and teach my self from a mixture of the following:

1) Advice
2) Mistakes
3) Mistakes
4) experience from actually doing it
5) More advice
6) More mistakes

Its how I work...

Anyway, I know about the obvious things to look out for but what other bits that are easily overlooked when scouting out a rebuild project and therefore I should pay attention to?

I intent to strip the defender right down and replace/mend anything that I come across which needs it.

Which brings me onto my second question, shopping lists. Does anyone have one from their own experience that I could have a glance at as a rough guide to work out the things I am most probably going to need?

Also, from a search of the tinternet, i've noticed there are several books for sale that act as an educational tool for rebuilding a landy... are they worth it? if so, any suggestions on the best one/ones?
