James - yes, connecting red wire to another live source from the engine bay. Black remains earthed to bulkhead.

I have a LHD 1991 110 in Bahrain. It has standard north American spec A/C, with a big sealed unit under the bonnet on the right. My issue is the AC blower fan has stopped working intermittently. The fan is within the sealed unit. On rare occasions (once in the last fortnight), it works...

Cheers for the reply - sorry only just seen it but useful info. Managed to get it back into servicable condition by servicing the carb but it's still not 100% - I will look into fuel lines. I live in the Gulf - the coldest remp I have encountered is about +20, so I doubt that's the problem...

Did you ever fix the stalling problem. I have almost the exact same car/engine/age, and have the same problem - it's bloody annoying! I put a new carb on and it was fine for 6 months, and has now started doing this again out of the blue!

Thanks for all the reply's guys. My AC unit is the under bonnet type, not the under dash one which seem to be on the US spec ones.. The vents are vertical, but are fed from a horizontal hole below them - it does not look like the typical dash with an angled panel behind. I guess I'll leave it...
