Sport 2005 RR Sport, 4.2SC Petrol - Turns over but wont start.

Hi All, Its been a long time so please be gentle with me if I'm asking a dumb question :-) I have a 2005 RR Sport, 4.2 SC petrol, 125k miles. It was running fine and started on the button every time with no hint of a problem. I drove from home to a shopping centre (approx 10 miles), parked up...

    Door open warning

Maybe true if you buy direct, but you can buy from local stockists (Bell Auto Services in the UK) for less money and no import duty.

4.2 SC LOTS of white smoke...

Not sure if I'm jumping in with no experience of Range Rovers, but I believe P0171 and P0174 could refer to the MAF - I had a pig of a job with similar symptoms on an old x-type with this. I found a thread here which may have some clues to help - and sorry for pointing to a different forum :-)

Old to LR, New to RR

Hi All, Just introducing myself - I've moved from the dark side of Freelander 1 ownership into the luxury of Range Rover ownership. Just bought a 2005 Range Rover Sport, 4.2 supercharged, which I collect some time this week. Just the basic model, but seems to have everything I need (Privacy...

    Over the moon

Yep, very aware of that - always 5 tyres the same make and 2 newest on the back :-)

    Over the moon

2005 TD4 bought as a toy a few years ago. Fell in love with it and it soon became our primary car (above the Jag !!). Had it's MOT yesterday at nearly 135k miles and passed with 2 advisories - needs tyre (already on order) and rusty back coil spring. Looks like we have another year of great...

    Injectors, DIY refurbishing?

Great write up. I've got 3 spares and 1 in bits with a lost ball bearing :-) I'll give this a go when I get back to the uk.

    Freelander TD4 OEM+

Yep, you're right - I was thinking of the suspension components needed for some (all maybe?) cars for the self levelling lights to work - need to engage brain before typing :-)

Looking for new tires for my Freelander

Try and find a tyre you want then look on the Asda Tyre website. They have a big range from budget to top brands. Prices are good and they deliver to a garage near you (I used local Halfords). I've just had a set of 4 on my x-type, mid-range decent tyres including balancing and alignment for...

    Freelander TD4 OEM+

I don't think you are right here. If you have self leveling suspension and/or headlamp cleaners then these must be working to pass an MOT after a Xenon/LED conversion. At least that was the ruling a few years ago - I checked with my MOT centre before doing the conversion on a jag x-type -...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Well you're brilliant at cleaning cars anyway :p Wanna do mine?

Freelander 1 TD4 Facelift - Needs Easystart for hot or cold start

Got it all sorted - it was the pressure regulator on the HP pump. A bit of a pain to change but now running very sweetly again. Also changed a few of the small fuel hoses (leak off etc) whilt the airpipes and manifold were off as they were showing signs of wear. Cheers to everyone for help...

Freelander 1 TD4 Facelift - Needs Easystart for hot or cold start

Thanks, I thought the PTFE ring would be split because it wouldn't stretch over the shaft like the o'ring will.

Freelander 1 TD4 Facelift - Needs Easystart for hot or cold start

I decided to be a bit less lazy than normal for a Sunday and had a look at the HP regulator as the manifold etc was already off - as per xamtex and others suggestions. The O'ring has split with a small piece missing, and the PTFE glide ring also has a large gap in it. New seal kit on order and...

Freelander 1 TD4 Facelift - Needs Easystart for hot or cold start

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm having a couple of lazy days at the moment so I haven't checked anything since stripping down to check all sensors. When I put it back together I'll get the info on before/after pressures and other data. I did see the thread about the HP pump pressure regulator...
