Thanks for the info! I had no problem matching the engine with the gearbox, all fitted. I'll double check the timing belt indeed. This and the previous engine both have manual tensioners indeed

It was a complete unit, could indeed be 135 engine. Gets more power in higher range indeed but still nothing extreme, wil mess around more first. Would you know if the 135MGF has the same camshafts?

Hi DevonGuy, thanks for the reply, how did they find out and what do mean getting it plugged in? Only way I could figure to find out if it truly is an 1.8 is taking the head off

I'm putting in an engine from an MG and noticed the casting numbers are different. The engine that came in my Freelander has part number LCF102620 on the cylinder block, and only now I noticed it does not have a serial number, that part of the engine, along with the enige code is perfectly clear...

I fitted an aluminium inlet manifold (TF 135) to my Freelander. After fitting it I found out that the one I have does not have the thread fitted for the air temperature sensor. Would anyone know why this sensor is so close to the cylinder head? I'm thinking about putting it somewhere I can put...

Did some more testing with a volt meter and a scope. The oxygen sensor returns a negative voltage?? Is there anyone out there with a Freelander MEMS 1.9 and a Hawkeye that can verify some figures?

My 1.8 '99 Freelander failed the MOT due to to high emissions. I replaced the Lambda sensor but I am not sure if it is working correctly. I have a Hawkeye and sometimes I get the message O2 Sensor status not OK. But I have learnt that this is normal when the sensor/engine/manifold is still...

I am starting to loose coolant on my 1.8 '99 Freelander. I was already planning to change the clutch, so my plan now is to take the engine out and do the clutch and the gasket at the same time. Taking the engine out may be overkill, but I'm always in for an extra challenge! :) Just to be sure I...
