Thanks, Chromiumuk. I never realized a rebuild would be so potentially daunting. Does anyone know of a source for obtaining a rebuilt unit for this vehicle? I've searched and searched, and no company I've called seems to have them, and when I do find a used unit it has over 100k miles on it...

In speaking with the owner of the shop where I have the car, there seems to be a ray of hope in the possibility of obtaining a used or rebuilt engine and dropping that in. Install is pricey: $1600US. But if I can find a rebuilt engine somewhere for around $3000, it would certainly be worth it...

Yeah, it's looking mire and more like it's time yo look for something else. If it was 6 grand, I might decide to go with it. But I have a feeling it'll be much more. On top of that there may be other things down the pike I'll have to address.

I'm in the US, where the diesel versions aren't available. I've heard here and from other sources that the diesel variants are much more reliable. I'd jump on one in a heartbeat if they were available. A 2002 petrol version here, with around 100k on the clock sells for about $7000. I figure...

Ok. Turns out the missing was due, at least in part, to the fact that cylinder 3 is not firing. I switched the coils 3 and 5 and it's confirmed: ignition coil 3 is bad. I'll be ordering one first thing Monday, but I do know something's up with this plenum, too, due to the rattling. I'm getting...

I've read some mention of a remanufactured assembly. Any thoughts on that?

Question: does anyone know of a source for the manifold chamber by itself? It sounds like the chamber is the only affected part of the manifold, and prices I'm seeing for the entire assembly are between 500-800 BPS. I've searched on eBay and can't seem to locate the manifold chamber. Thanks again.
