what was the fuel gauge up to? I had these symptoms and it was a voltage regulator on the way out.

I used a program called WINSU, combined with the online mintylamb SU needle calculator to some success. I've got HS carbs on my V8 and it's a high comp one with SD1 heads, free flow filters, less exhaust and a +20 overbore, standard cam. KO needles are a bit rich top end (but are still in to...

One of my friends had the same in a Clio - they had a recall for the bonnet flipping up, and because she hadn't got proof that the 'fix' had been done they wouldn't let her take her test in it.

crack in the rotor arm - when it gets hot it opens up and won't work?

it does indeed go quite well, gottan app on my phone that's timed it at 9.5 seconds 0-60. It needs the octane boost to run at stock timing but will run (with a bit less go) without it if I retard it a bit.

it's gonna be juicy whatever... Part of the reason is that it falls out of tune really fast with the carbs, partly cos they're a bit old, but partly cos the bloody thing's trying to run a 10.5:1 compression ratio (plus a bit cos it's +20)

I can always change it back . More a 'see if I can do it' job.

I picked up a decent thor manifold for absolute peanuts (people on ebay can't spell...) and am going to attempt a thor/14CUX hybrid (CHEAP) system, mainly to see if I can. Might go MS later but the price scares me - I only paid £1K for the P6. But I need to get a manual gearbox in there first...

something a bit different? Currently on carbs but I have some fuel injection bits awaiting in the wings

is the place where most of the SU stuff ends up. I've had needles off them. Lots of the classic car places do rebuild/service kits too - minispares.com for example
Carbs should be HS6 or HIF44 (separate or combined float chambers) I think.
they're not hard to rebuild at...

Too true mate. I have less than half a clue how mine actually works :p
-
cor that's a bit special that. It looks HUUUGE - don't think it would fit in the P6 engine bay, so I'll stick with the buick :D
loving the v-ateyness.
And you have made me envious, but in a good way. Though you're a brave man to have added the cost up. Cheered me up this thread has :)

what I meant to add but forgot: is there anything else I should be doing while it's in this many bits? Gearbox input seal?
-
well that didn't work either...
probably because the bore has a bit of a step in it.

so much so that I had to hammer the pistons out. There was fairly substantial evidence of blow past on the pistons which I forgot to take a picture of. (pistons were...

I baked some wheels I'd sprayed outside, in the oven. What a bloody stink, and everything we ate from the oven smelt funny for about a week. Was not Mr popular for that.
