Unwinding noise.

Just to keep you all posted. This morning I took the vacuumpipe off the EGR again, folded the pipe and put a tiestrap around and guess what, the two times I stopped the engine I had that weird ticking noise again.....

Aren't there any other Td4 owners, having their EGR disconnected, around in the UK having the same 'problem' ??

i spose the nub of this, Willo, is - do you want the noise or not?

Hi MHM,

Now that I (hope to) know the origin of the noise I don't give a damn about it anymore. Will leave things as they are now except that I'm going to unfold that pipe again and fix it better. It looks as after all the slob was right with his suggestion, correct ??

Thanks slob, congratulations and where you said yours was less noisy, if you would have opened the hood and listened like that it is possible it was as noisy as mine, still today I heard it again but with the hood closed and being seated IN the car you have to pay special attention to hear it, so ......

the one i had was some emmision ship that pulled excess fuel fumes from the inlet manifold/plenum chamber and sent them packin back to the fuel tank. was a whirr like yours and it came from somewhere near the inner wing. when i first heard it i thought 'oh! its makes a noise after you switch off!'
its was ages later someone told me what it was.

In the end you were lucky someone told you eh ??:D :D So far none told me what it is exactly... I can assume (but assume makes an ass of you and me as they say, right ;) ?) it is caused by the EGRvalve being blocked or not but what's the device producing this noise ??
