Hi, I have a 2002 Freelander Td4 and the speaker in the drivers door has ceased to work. Any help and tips on fixing the problem will be much appreciated.
Thanks David

they do suffer from water ingress best bet is to (check the above post) and then take the door card off to look at the speaker, they are pretty straight forward to do and should take about 10 mins once you have done one. to begin with take off the trim around the door pull and unscrew the screw there, then unscrew the door pull handle itself and the self tappers around the base of the door storage bins. unclip the black "tweeter" surround by the door mirror by lifting upwards on vertical plane to the door (i think!) you may have to re superglue the plastic clips back on there as mine were fragile (also a 2002MY) with age. Next the fun bit in snapping off the door card from the door, if you have a trim tool great otherwise gloves on and gently prise it off from a corner, once off you be able to test the speaker and replace if needed. always use gloves otherwise you'll be picking bits of fibreglass out of your fingers for weeks afterwards like i was... enjoy.

I had this problem with mine, and a replacement speaker (£7.00 off ebay inc p&p) was needed as the plug/socket contacts on the original speaker had corroded.

Follow the process as listed above, (no fibreglass in my door casing??) and yes, it is about 15-20 mins to complete, but the result is worth every second. -- Good Luck

TIP: There are many jobs on a Freelander that may require you to remove the door trim panels, so check on Ebay and buy yourself a packet of replacement trim pins/studs. For a few quid, it's worth having them in stock incase you do break any - and it's much preferable over getting superglue anywhere near your trim panels!
