Here is a pin id document with values you might need , sorry but img is too big to upload on LZ if you pm me with your email add i will send you it direct :)

just checked Solenoid 8 again and today it had resistance of 14.2 so I think anything is wrong with that one. Also the cable going to solenoid A has a defect. Would I Need to Change the whole cable for it ATC to the round plug?

I don't understand your measurements. Pin x to pin y = n ohms would help. Can you advise if pin 17 or 18 measures 0 ohms to the gearbox case? I didn't know of different auto's for the Freelander 1 other than the Td4 version and v6 version which have different gear ratio's and should use pin 18 as the common. What year/engine is your Freelander? Is it a UK spec Freelander?

The cable goes in through the top of the auto. I guess it can be changed but you need to take the front cover off where the solenoids are to connect it, if it plugs into the internal connections below. Can't see if any of the cables disappear behind something in the pic's to connect elsewhere.

Hi Hippo,

Thanks for the pics. Sorry, didn't recon your Response. It's not the cable into the jatco but the one from c0243 to c0932 which seems to be defect. From the outside female plug to ATCU plug.

It's a 2002 td4 Auto. I asked the Austrian guy and he said it might have changed within the two years and that I had the values within Limits so should be ok. I used ground 17 to the different solenoids ie. pin 3, 15, 10, 14 and so on. The ohm is in #31 Pin.... to 4.8.

Best Regards
Matthias

Hi Hippo,

I got it figured out today when having a look on the check sheet tacr2man sent me recently with his results. The round plug c0243 is pin 18 and the rectangular one in the engine compartment c0932 is pin 17 and 9 for ground. So everything seems fine. My cable defect is one major problem with me. Sorry the pc is changing letter to capital all the time.
Best Regards
Matthias

Can you confirm:

Connector C0243 which carries the solenoids and sensor connections to the gearbox has pin 18 as the common?

and pin 17 is the common on the gearbox computer connector C0932?

Hence the barrel connector C0243 is always wired with pin 18 on the connector as the common, and never wired as pin 17?

I have a Freelander 2005 TD4 automatic. Shortly after a car wash it just stopped and freewheeled to the road side. I suspect water ingress somewhere as the carwash guy went mad with his pressure wash hose. I have opened the JATCO ECU connector C0932 and all results were in range except Pins21 - 20 which were open circuit. I have now removed the battery and battery box and opened connector C0243. To my surprise there are no Pins 3 and 4. Does this mean that there is no intermediate speed sensor on the TD4 JATCO? I have an iCarsoft CR PRO but when checking the fault codes it freezes when reading the ABS ECU. I also checked with an OBII adapter and my smart phone and got two fault codes. P0501 Vehicle sensor "A" range performance and P1637 which is manufacturer defined as CAN link engine control module / ABS control module circuit / network malfunction. Any suggestions would be helpful.

The intermediate sensor was removed from later jatco gear boxes. Hence why the pins are missing. The sensor failed on a number of boxes. Lot of work to replace. Firmware in yer auto's computer will be the later version that don't need that sensor. Is yer car still having problems?

Thanks for clearing up the intermediate speed sensor query. Yes I still have problems. I have replaced the fuel pump and filter in the rear wheel arch and can hear the pump running when the ignition is turned on. It runs for quite a while before stopping. I have replaced the washers in the pressure regulator although the ones I removed seemed to be intact. I have replaced the cam sensor. Still turns over fine but will not start. I have previously replaced the high pressure switch on the end of the fuel rail and also fitted the LR replacement cable. I have obtained the hose containing the low pressure switch but have not had a chance to fit it yet. I have now seen that the indicator on the dash flashes between F and 4. I also have the ABS and hill start illuminated. My iCarsoft tells me that it has a communication error when trying to diagnose. The fault codes that I obtained were with the Autel MaxiAP AP200. After trying to start several times today the battery voltage had dropped to 11.5 V. Is the iCarsoft sensitive to voltage? The next dry day I will remove the passenger side front wheel to fit the new low pressure fuel sensor and change the ABS sensor at the same time. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

My Icarsoft doesn't connect to auto box at all. Got told to update software which made no difference. Use a PScan....

You will need to charge the battery for the computers and diagnostics to work correctly.

Flashing F then 4 in the vast majority of times is gearbox control issues. Barrel connectors playing up. Wiring to the gearbox broken. Follow the video to see what to do. It should still start with this fault. Even if it wont drive.

Get the battery charged and try again with diagnostics. I fear you have other faults if the engine won't start. Yer need to read the engine, gearbox and abs computers. Try to do what yer can and report back.
