Can anyone help with good places to pickup the necessary feeds for "S" socket on 2002 Freelander TD4,
Need good battery feed - Ignition Feed and Earth.
It looks awkward to get through firewall so I was hoping someon might know good places inside - I have come in nearside rear side panel at present

Best Regards

the standard towing wiring is on the rear rh side [as looking at back door] have to undo the plastic cowel, bit of a pain, if ya stuck ,then send me a pm with ya e mail and will send you the wiring info , if ive got it all wrong and it is not for towing just ignore this thread. . .

Hi Ming,

Thanks for fast reply; I have the standard Black "N" socket connected to the factory connector for the rear light clusters - what I am after is the ability to connect the Grey socket "S" for the charging of auxilary battery and running caravan systems. I thought as LR had been so thoughtful on the lighting side that there might be some nice places for the second socket to be connected. (I have the appropriate split-charge relay).

OK i got ya now, i also routed about for a similar hook up ,and could not find the correct wiring at the rear end for this purpose, so looks like you will have to run more wiring for your needs , unless someone on the forum has a better idea. . .

hi there i have just fitted a lr s type kit to my td4 ,there is no wiring of any use in the rear light clusters other than the reversing light and a good place to earth ,the landrover kit is really easy to fit but a bit time consuming the lives come through the fire wall behind the main fuse box r,hand side you have to snip the main wiring grommet it has two spare places just cut the end of the niple on the grommet and feed a coat hanger down to collect the live feed in your car lots of room under the plastic trim on the left hand side sill area to run cables to the back , ignition to relay is taken from fuse box inside car drivers side , if i was you i would get a lr kit not cheep at £60 but it is all plug in and the quality is second to none ,if you decide to go it on your own if you can use the rear fag lighter as a supply and dont forget about the separate earth for you fridge if it is a later model van.hope this helps if you are unsure of anything give me a call on 07974 718666 and i will help you if i can Ian
