freelander bang help

hi im new to the forrum i will update my info soon but can anyone please help i was sat today with the drivers side of my freelander on the road and the passenger side on soft ground when i pulled of or tried to only the back passenger wheel was turning hense i was stuck no other wheel spun apart from that back wheel has my rear dif gone? if sso anyone know where i can get a cheap recon part from also when i drive if i change down gear or release the clutch quickly i get a loud bang at the back is this the drive shaft or the dif again cheers

Got a low miliage rear diff knocking about in my garage if you are interested?
The bang sounds like your mounts are shot though - fear not - cheap and easy.
Get under the rear diff and try to push the front of it (where the main prop shaft goes into it) upwards.
If the mount is shot you will notice!!! Easy peasy to replace and part resonably priced from the dealer.

have you got traction control? If fitted, it should have got you out.

One wheel spinning and not the other is what a diff does so its not broke, a diff allows each wheel to turn at different speeds so that when cornering, the tyres dont scrub out.

The bang you speak of is caused by a worn rear diff mounting, usually the front mount.

Admitedly some has leaked out over my paperwork

well iv had the 3 rear mounts replaced and when i was boged down on the passenger side only one wheel was moving and yes i do have traction control so ??? my misses says the motor is a sack of .... you know what but i like it and would love to keep my treasure so im stuck cos landrover isle of man looked at it then £1000 later i still have the same problem so if any one could suggest what to do before the misses gives me more greaf i would appreciate it cheers gents

oh when the rear wheel was spinning the others did not move 1/4 inch its as if one wheel is pushing my landy

that sounds like yu have 2wd to the rear wheels only! An interesting setup.

or 1 wheel drive lol

If the've taken a grand off you and still aint fixed it they ferkin well deserve to have yer Mrs in there show room screamin abuse at em in front of potential new customers

so do you think the dif has gone??? and the knock do you think its the drive shafts or prop shaft??

almost impossible to say wivout listening to it - do as Mondeo says - send wife back with baseball bat on a saturday.
