Had the freelander for 4 problem free months until today. The drivers door doesn't unlock when I press the key fob button, but the lock makes all the right noises, like it unlocks but the what ever it's called doesn't pop up?? The passanger and back unlock fine on the second press.

I've searched the forum but can't find an answer to help. I noticed someone said it happened to them when it got cold - but how can it be fixed?

Any advice?

I'm also worried about the head gasket problem, has anyone got any stats on the failure rate? Is it a case of "when it happens". Mines got 34k on on a 2000W.

I have a similar problem, all doors open ok except the front driver.
sometimes when entering there is also a "beeping" from the dash, once the keys in, all is well.
No answers - just the same problem

Hi,

When I push the keyfob once the knob at the driver's door is rather reluctant to come out but when pushing a 2nd time (to open the remaining doors) it comes out fine, this was with mine also more or less worse when cold. I now have sprayed some WD40 in it and it seems to be slightly better (at least since done it came out so far by only pressing once, as it's getting colder here I'm curious to see its behaviour later on).

Hi its sounds like a lazy solenoid which is built into the latch and a second hit with go go juice makes it lift, you could also check connections in the door pillar A post and at the ccu on fuse box 3 connections on right hand side as i have had bad connections here as well,oh yes the flashing led and beeping noise when unlocking change the batteries in your remotes you tight buggers, its telling you voltage is low in handset hope this helps tiga.
